From its stunning and much talked about opening in November 1998 Benedicts
hotel has constantly been at the forefront of Belfast's hospitality scene. The dream of self made Donegal based businessmen and brothers Paddy and Edmund Simpson became a reality under the innovative attention of the
Michael Galbraithe Architects Group. Costing £4.5 million and taking over a year and a half to complete the attention to detail is meticulous; the overall design is an eclectic mix of moods and styles that compliment each other.
The reception area has a classical feel with dark wood, plush upholstery and a large sweeping staircase, this continues into the spacious bar area, which through the use of natural stone, terracotta, timber and wrought iron has a Gothic / medieval feel complimented by pointed wooden arches and stained
glass windows. The first floor restaurant uses a carefully balanced fusion of polished pine and Red Oak; the pastel coloured walls are adorned with floral stencilling and delicate artwork creating a relaxed unhurried
atmosphere.
Location of course is everything and Benedict's nestles comfortably in a
prime area situated at the top end of Belfast's "Golden Mile". Surrounded by
a cosmopolitan mix of small but exclusive shops, delightful restaurants,
vibrant bars, theatres, cinema and museums it's the ideal base to explore
the city centre.
